Jean Schindler serves as the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) Chief of Staff. In this role, she supports strategic initiatives and partnerships external to the organization and leadership and management oversight within the organization. She also manages IFES Board affairs. In addition to her responsibilities as Chief of Staff, Schindler served as IFES's acting Director of Strategic Communications during recruitment for that role from June to October 2022.

Schindler previously spent eight years at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). While there, she established and directed the Penn Kemble Forum on Democracy, now one of Washington’s premier fora for young foreign policy professionals. She also has extensive experience advising non-profit start-ups on communications, community building, and process development. Schindler holds a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and an M.A. in diplomatic history from the London School of Economics.
