IFES' photography exhibit Women Count: A Global Spotlight will be displayed at various locations in Washington, D.C.

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) considers gender equality a crucial element of democracy, since democracy for half the population in not democracy at all. To mark International Women's Day 2012 and emphasize the importance of promoting equal rights for women, IFES presents select photographs that highlight challenges and advances in women’s political participation around the world.
