Indonesians return to the polls for the second time this year on July 9. Following the multifaceted national legislative elections that took place on April 9, the July 9 vote will offer citizens two pairs of candidates running for President and Vice President.

Voters will choose between Jakarta Governor Joko Widodo and former Special Forces Commander General Prabowo Subianto. Although the candidates are determined by the results of the legislative elections, presidential elections in Indonesia are primarily contests of personalities, rather than battles between political parties. Each camp is trying to build an image they believe that voters will trust.
