New Program Will Engage Young Dominican Leaders with Disabilities

Published

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) announces its new program, in partnership with local disabled people’s organization Disability Alliance for Our Rights, “Promoting the Political Leadership of Youth with Disabilities in the Dominican Republic.” The program, made possible through the support of the United States Agency for International Development Disability Fund, will empower young persons with disabilities to make a difference in their communities by taking a more active role in political life.

Young Dominicans with disabilities will develop and refine leadership skills through an interactive curriculum. Classroom learning will be supplemented with hands-on experiences, such as visits to Dominican government institutions and guest lectures from regional experts.
