Top Republican strategist and fundraiser Wyatt A. Stewart, III to join the International Foundation for Electoral Systems

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Wyatt A. Stewart, III, a renowned political and nonprofit management and fundraising consultant, is joining the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) as chief operating officer. Mr. Stewart hopes to help IFES maximize its potential.

“Wyatt brings an enormous amount of expertise to IFES. He will no doubt help raise the efficiency and quality of IFES’ work, as well as make us better known to the entire community of development donors. Because he is a Republican, Wyatt will also help us further fulfill our mandate of being bipartisan. Now, our senior management, like our board of directors, will be a balanced mix of Republicans and Democrats,” says Bill Sweeney, IFES president & CEO.

Mr. Stewart founded Wyatt Stewart & Associates, a management consulting and political/non‐profit fundraising corporation, in 1978. As president and chairman of the board of this organization, Mr. Stewart raised over $1 billion dollars in 18 years for a variety of political and nonprofit entities.

Among his most visible successes is the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, for which he developed and supervised the grass roots marketing plan that raised over $100 million dollars from over one million donors. Mr. Stewart is also credited with turning the National Republican Congressional Committee from an organization with a $500,000 deficit that could only count 20,000 active donors in its mailing file to one with a $1.5 million surplus and five times the active donor list, all in less than one year.

Most importantly, Mr. Stewart has used his impressive business and management skills to help organizations excel on all levels. He has always looked not only at how to draw the best and brightest out of people, but also how to accomplish a mission more cost effectively and to use the latest in innovation and technology.

“When Bill Sweeney invited me to join IFES, I did not hesitate to take the opportunity. The more I learn about the organization, the more impressed I am with its work and mission. Having a say in the way we are governed is fundamental for human dignity and happiness,” says Mr. Stewart.
