Daniela Colaiacovo, Director, Communications and Advocacy
Daniela Colaiacovo serves as director of communications and advocacy for the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES). She has 20 years of experience in strategic communications and held leadership roles at U.S. and international NGOs. Colaiacovo is responsible for overseeing IFES’ internal and external communications strategies, including branding, messaging, media relations, online presence, marketing, publications, special events and crisis communications.
Colaiacovo previously served as vice president of communications at World Food Program USA (WFP USA), where she worked to raise the visibility of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in the U.S. market. In that capacity, she supported numerous public awareness campaigns and private sector fundraising efforts. She also developed and implemented communications activities on behalf of WFP USA, aimed primarily at donors, advocates and members of Congress. Colaiacovo has also served as director of media relations at Media Matters for America, communications director at Families USA, international media manager at Conservation International and has held various positions at the International Center for Journalists.
She holds a master’s degree in broadcast journalism from Boston University (BU) and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro. Colaiacovo is a recipient of BU's Dennis Kauff Memorial Reporting and Producing Award, A native of Argentina and raised in Brazil, she is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
