Developing new generations of active and engaged citizens is key to building democratic stability and future leadership. While casting a ballot is an important act in a democratic society, a healthy democracy requires more than voters; it requires active citizens knowledgeable about issues within their communities and equipped to take on those challenges.

As we celebrate International Youth Day on August 12, the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) reaffirms its mission to support citizens' right to participate in their democracy. Please join us for a moderated Twitter chat focused on young peoples’ attitudes and perceptions of democracy, as well as youth contributions to their communities around the world.
