OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission Final Report - 2008 Presidential Election
Following an invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia to observe the 5 January 2008 extraordinary presidential election, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) deployed an Election Observation Mission (EOM) on 6 December 2007.

Campaign Fuels Support for Indian Girls
Motorists in Jaipur, India received more than petrol when they visited Indian Oil Company stations in late October. IFES, the oil company and local nongovernmental organizations sponsored a campaign to educate people about the dignity of the girl child and the negative consequences of female feticide.

Spending Limits as a Policy Option
Citizens in many countries are upset because they believe the current financing of politics (which involves corruption and under-the-table deals) is violating the basic democratic values of equal opportunity, transparency and accountability. One way to bring the funding of political parties and candidates into line with these values is to regulate campaign expenditures through spending limits. This is a viable option, but such limits must be designed and implemented with care.
