Kazakhstan's parliamentary elections were originally slated for late 2016, when the lower house’s five-year term was set to expire. However, following a parliamentary initiative, Kazakhstan’s President, Nursultan Nazarbaev, dissolved the lower house of the country’s Parliament, the Majilis, and called snap parliamentary elections for March 20.

The Electoral Integrity Project’s "The Year in Elections 2015"
The Electoral Integrity Project (EIP) is an independent research project based at the University of Sydney and Harvard University. The EIP brings together scholars and practitioners from around the world to discuss effective research and how to design evidence-based programming that will increase the integrity of elections. Since the EIP’s inception, IFES has been an active participant in the project and we are pleased to forward on the EIP’s latest report, The Year in Elections 2015, which highlights the key challenges election stakeholders face as they work to administer credible elections.
