“Women and MMP” is a leaflet produced in 1993 by the Women’s Electoral Lobby and the Electoral Reform Coalition arguing that the new Mixed Member Proportional proposed system of electing members of the New Zealand parliament is beneficial to women candidates. “The Guide to the Electoral Referendum” was published by the Electoral Referendum Panel in 1992 and regards the September 19th 1992 vote in which a system of elections will be chosen to challenge the existing voting system. In addition to a brief history of New Zealand’s electoral history and a voting procedure outline, this guide outlines the different potential electoral system and provides their implications on New Zealand politics. These systems are the Mixed Member Proportional System, the Preferential Voting System, the Supplementary Member System and the Single Transferable Vote System.
