Commemorating International Women’s Day in Indonesia
To commemorate International Women’s Day in Indonesia, IFES, the International Republican Institute and the Association for Elections and Democracy hosted “Women’s Challenges in a Political Year” – a public discussion aiming to motivate and unite leaders and communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. With the next general election scheduled for April 2019, it is a crucial time for Indonesia to seriously consider the unique challenges and barriers that women currently face in participating in elections.

Advancing Disability Rights in Southeast Asia through Regional Network of Advocates
In 2011, IFES established the General Election Network for Disability Access (AGENDA) across Southeast Asia. A creative partnership between disabled persons’ organizations (DPOs) and election-focused civil society organizations, AGENDA serves as a forum to improve access to political and electoral opportunities for persons with disabilities by increasing public awareness and elevating advocacy efforts that call for change.

Guatemalan National Disability Council Proposes Electoral Law Reform to Increase Access
On October 31, the National Council for Persons with Disabilities (CONADI) presented proposed reforms to the Elections and Political Parties Law (LEPP) to the Congressional Disabilities Affairs Committee and to the Board of Magistrates of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE). IFES provided technical assistance and key thematic inputs to CONADI throughout the process of drafting recommended updates to the LEPP.

New Electoral Governance and Reforms Project in Guatemala
Over the past two years, Guatemalans have made unprecedented advances in strengthening their country’s democracy and engaging in political life.To support implementation of the Law on Political Parties, IFES will work hand-in-glove with Guatemala's Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE). This legislation puts in place landmark reforms that seek to increase accountability, enhance the transparency and inclusivity of the electoral system, and expand the TSE’s mandate as a political finance regulator.

IFES’ "Elections: More Inclusion, Less Violence” Program in Guatemala
Through the “Elections: More Inclusion, Less Violence” project implemented by the Consortium for Electoral and Political Processes (CEPPS), IFES provided technical assistance to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) in three areas during the 2015 electoral process: general planning; implementation of electoral security measures; and campaign finance monitoring and oversight.
