Citizens of Papua New Guinea had been scheduled to go to the polls for local-level government (LLG) elections from June 22 to July 6. The schedule for the LLG elections was halted by a Supreme Court order on April 25.

Guatemalan Political Parties Commit to a Transparent, Ethical and Peaceful Electoral Process
The “Agreement for a Transparent, Ethical and Peaceful Electoral Process” was signed on March 11 by representatives of 18 of the 28 political parties that will participate in Guatemala’s upcoming elections. The agreement was an outcome of the Electoral Violence Prevention Plan developed by Guatemala’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), with the support of IFES.

Bougainville Election Commission Launches Strategic Plan
Throughout 2018, IFES advisors guided the Office of the Bougainville Electoral Commissioner in developing and writing its 2018-2022 Strategic Plan. On April 8, IFES and Guatemala's National Council for Persons with Disabilities and signed a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) to enhance collaboration between the two organizations.
