Voter's Self-Defense Manual
“The Voters Self Defense Manual” is a piece of literature, published in 1992, aimed at increasing voter savvy in what it perceives to be an increasingly dishonest political climate. The document discourages voters from participating in poles, as it views them as being a way for candidates to tailor their image, and to follow the money trail from special interests and PACs back to the respective candidates. Issues such as welfare, international relations and health care are also addressed. The booklet was created by “Project Vote Smart,” a non-partisan, non-profit research organization. This piece was released the same year as the groups founding and the same year as the George H.W. Bush and William Jefferson Clinton presidential election.
