This document entitled “Some Questions and Answers on Voter Registration” was published in 1995 by the Electoral Commission of Ghana and provides brief answers to basic questions on the new registration process, general voting rules and regulations, and the electoral structure in Ghana. This pamphlet was funded by Supporting the Electoral Process (STEP) with a grant from USAID and IFES.

“Candidates Guide 1995,” was produced by the State Board of Elections in Illinois with the express intent to educated prospective candidates as to how to become a balloted candidate. The booklet contains sections for partisan, new party and non party candidate filing as well as sections on filling requirements for non party candidates.

This 1995 document contains a list of election supplies necessary for running an orderly polling station. Included on this list were items such as: “votomatic” machines, economy voting units, a precinct binder and ballot box. The document also contains copies of the supporting affidavits necessary to make the charge of voter tampering.

Technikon SA & Chris
“Technikon and Chris SA” is a story booklet that was sponsored by International Business Machines (IBM) of South Africa and published by Solidarity Publications. The booklet was released in 1995, the same year as the South African local elections, and was aimed at educating the public on the election process. The piece also tries to enhance voter efficacy by indicating all of the beneficial aspects of voting.

“Tell it to Washington: A Guide for Citizen Action Including Congressional: Directory 1995-1996” is a 1995 pamphlet from the League of Women Voters Education Fund that explains to readers how to reach out to elected officials in order to have their voices heard. The pamphlet serves as a guide for effective communication with members of Congress and their staff: how to make personal visits, place phone calls and write letters. The document describes different branches of government that citizens can reach out to and how to do so; yet the bulk of the pamphlet is a directory of names of elected officials for the USA.

The glossary provides basic electoral terms for youth in an effort to enhance youth’s understanding of the Mexican electoral system, including their rights and obligations as citizens. The political electoral concepts included in the glossary are defined in an easy-to-understand language that would facilitate their comprehension by all groups of young citizens.

The manual was released on the eve of democratization in rural South Africa and provides a wealth of information on the importance of local government and the overall election process. “The Guide,” was intended to educate the public on governmental procedures and assist with educating voters regarding the issues of the upcoming local elections.
