On October 25, Ukrainians will head to the polls to elect local Councils and Mayors. The previous local elections, held in 2010 under former President Viktor Yanukovych, were widely criticized for falling short of democratic standards and resulted in many local government bodies and offices being dominated by the former ruling Party of Regions.
On October 25, Ivoirians will head to the polls to elect their next President. This will be the first presidential election in Côte d’Ivoire since post-election violence rocked the country in 2010 and 2011.
From October 1-3, 2015, the first “South Asia Regional Disability Rights Dialogue on Political Participation” brought together more than 80 representatives from 34 organizations including disabled people’s organizations, election management bodies, media, and international organizations from the eight countries in South Asia, and the Philippines, Indonesia and Fiji in the broader Asia-Pacific region.
