International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3, commemorates the human rights of persons with disabilities. For 30 years, IFES has worked to support the political rights of women and men with disabilities, recognizing that all people should have an equal opportunity to contribute their voice within the political life of their communities. In 2017, IFES collaborated with disabled people’s organizations (DPOs) to design new tools and approaches to empower people with disabilities to participate in political life.

Inaugural Meeting of the Global Network on Electoral Justice
IFES has increasingly seen the credibility of elections and stability of the election environment hinge on the election dispute resolution process withstanding sophisticated political manipulation or attempts by political actors to use the courts to legitimize staying in power. To address this challenge, IFES is working with regional partners to pilot regional electoral jurisprudence networks to facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and professional support among election arbiters. We have also been partnering closely with the Federal Electoral Tribunal of Mexico to support their initiative of establishing a Global Network of Electoral Justice.
