This series of 12 note cards, published in 2007 in South Africa, were designed to facilitate discussion based workshops. The cards present everyday scenarios involving topics and situations such as urban civics, the workplace and youth in South Africa. Those circumstances are also accompanied by discussion questions that frame the topic and scene with in the context of the South African constitution and civil society.

Political Finance in Post-Conflict Societies
This study of political finance in post-conflict society identifies lessons learned from international donor-funded efforts to support political processes in post-conflict environments in general and the funding of political parties and campaign finance in particular. The document consists of eight case studies that seek to improve our understanding not only of the political dynamics of post-conflict situations but also of how to rally international support for holding elections and supporting democratization under such circumstances.

Djibouti: 2005 Pre-Election Assessment Report
In March and April 2005, a four-person team from IRI and IFES sought to evaluate the election environment in Djibouti, meeting with representatives of political parties, civil society groups, media, other international organizations, and relevant government bodies. Through these interviews and observations, the team examined voter registration and election administration processes, as well as the presence and level of external electoral assistance.

“Elections Step by Step” is a voter guide issued in 2000 by CENTRAS and IFES, available in Romanian, and meant to serve as an informative document about the Romanian electoral system, specifically to provide information regarding the Presidential Election of 2000 in Romania. The guide is mostly intended to be of use for the electoral bodies overseeing the electoral process and to provide basic guidance on the main ways of functioning during the entire electoral process. The guide focuses on the structure and functioning of the Electoral Bureaus, the Electoral Commissions and the accredited observers, giving brief explanations on their tasks and responsibilities. Additionally, it contains samples of required documents prior and during the elections, as well as the text of the Law regarding the election of the Senate and the Chamber of deputies and the Law regarding the election of the President of Romania, with its recent changes to that date.

Ballot paper used for the 2 June 1999 general election in South Africa. This was the second election in South Africa after apartheid, and voters were instructed to vote for the party of their choice. Seats in the National Assembly would be apportioned based on percentage of popular vote.

Featured in the South Africa Sunday Times on May 23rd, 1999 is this special voter’s guide, included in preparation for the June 2nd 1999 national elections. This guide provides voting information for the disabled, hospitalized, South Africans who are abroad, and election officers who wish to vote in their districts. The details include where and when to vote and how to apply for special voter status.
