Training Libyans to Conduct Polling Station Audits

Selma Votes in Tunisia
As part of an effort to enfranchise illiterate women residing in rural areas to hold their government accountable, IFES partnered with USAID and the Tunisian Mediterranean Center to train and deploy women ambassadors in governorates with the highest illiteracy rates. These civic education ambassadors then encouraged women like Selma Sbissi, featured in a USAID video, to register and vote in the 2018 municipal elections.

Partnering to Implement International Anti-Corruption Commitments
Last month, IFES participated in the Eighth Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention Against Corruption in Abu Dhabi. Earlier in the year, the IFES Regional Europe Office hosted an Expert Group Meeting on Transparency in Political Finance in support of resolutions taken by the conference in 2017.

To make electoral information available to Tunisians who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in the runup to the 2019 national elections, IFES developed a sign language lexicon of nearly 200 electoral concepts and a companion smartphone application.
