Multi-Stakeholder Working Group Conducts Polling Station Accessibility Audit in Macedonia
In August 2017, the State Election Commission of Macedonia (SEC), in collaboration with eight civil society organizations, including disabled people’s organizations, the Ministry for Labour and Social Policy, the Organization for Security and Co‑operation in Europe and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), carried out the first nationwide polling station accessibility audit. The working group, which used a modified version of IFES’ polling station accessibility checklist, visited 2,733 polling stations, out of a total of 3,480.

It is important that Nigeriens have a voice in the way resources from their country are used. Genuine and transparent citizen participation is vital to the African nation’s economic development and security.
Although there has been a new wave of participation, challenges remain. IFES is currently working with civil society organizations (CSO) and the Nigerien government to increase awareness of the risks and rights of those in the extractive resources industry. Voters in the Dominican Republic will go to the polls May 20 to elect a president and vice president in the first election held under the constitutional reforms of 2010. Additionally, Sunday's race features new measures to increase participation of persons with disabilities as well as the large number of Dominicans living abroad.
