Professor Attahiru Jega: Nigeria’s Champion for Democracy
Nigeria’s former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, has been an important force for democracy in Nigeria during his tenure as the country’s top election management official. Recently honored with IFES’ 2015 Charles T. Manatt Democracy Award, Professor Jega stepped down from his post on June 30 with a legacy of increased trust in elections and the INEC.

Back in Haiti, Back at Home
IFES Chief of Party in Haiti Alessandra Rossi has over a decade of experience in electoral assistance projects. She recently served in Libya, where she supported the implementation of a voter education initiative targeting women, youth, voters with disabilities and rural communities in the eastern part of the country for the 2012 National Congress Elections with the United Nations Electoral Support Team in Libya. Media Guidelines for Reporting on Accessible Elections
In January 2015, the General Election Network for Disability Access in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (AGENDA) publicly launched the first edition of Media Guidelines for Reporting on Accessible Elections at AGENDA’s Third Regional Dialogue in Jakarta, Indonesia. The publication compiles international best practices and input from journalists on how to include and accurately represent the voices of citizens with disabilities participating in political life.
