Bases and criteria to receive and inform international visitors interested in attending the 1997 Mexican Federal Electoral Process
In preparation for the July 6th, 1997 Mexican federal elections, the Instituto Federal Electoral (IFE) issued this booklet in May of 1997 outlining the “Bases and Criteria” for international visitors interested in attending and witnessing the Mexican election process. This agreement details 10 bases that must be followed by these international observers in order to attend the 1997 federal elections in Mexico.

The guide, published in 1997, is part of a larger project by the Director General of Elections in Quebec to instruct youths in the rules and regulation of the electoral system in Quebec, Canada.

Information 1997 Federal Election
“Information 1997 Federal Election” is a pamphlet from April 1997, available in both English and French copies, explaining recent changes in registration and voting processes in Canada. The pamphlet was published by Elections Canada to warn readers of these changes so they may successfully participate and vote in the 1997 Federal Election. Changes include new electoral district boundaries, confirmation of voter registration, the emergence of special ballots, and staggered voting hours.

“Who to Vote For?” is a poster, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 by the “Equipo Maiz” group in El Salvador, in lead up to the 1997 Legislative Election in El Salvador. The poster contains information on the political parties to participate in the elections, such as: their logo, name, founding year and message. The poster is meant to encourage voters to inform themselves on the political parties to run in the 1997 Legislative Elections in El Salvador.

“What are Elections Good For?” is a poster, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 by the “Equipo Maiz” group in El Salvador, in lead up to the 1997 Legislative Election in El Salvador. The poster contains brief information on the time frame state and local officials are elected for and the number of representatives to be elected in El Salvador.

“Justice=Democracy” is a civic education pamphlet, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 in Paraguay by the “Decidamos” group as part of a national drive program to stimulate Paraguayan voters to register in the Permanent Civil Registry in order to be able to vote in the 1998 General Elections. The pamphlet briefly explains how to successfully register.

“The Mexican Electoral System and the Federal Elections” is an electoral guide, available in Spanish, published in 1997 by the Federal Electoral Institute in Mexico, in lead up to the July 6, 1997 Mexican Legislative Elections. The booklet presents a detailed overview, in a Q&A format, of the Mexican Electoral System and Federal Elections. Some of the topics covered touch on the electoral system in Mexico and its organizational structure, the political-electoral reform of 1996, the access to means of communications, and the characteristics of the campaign financing.
