Citizen Organizations and Electoral Institute of Mexico City Strengthen Ties Through Election Observation Workshops
In August, IFES held two Building Resources in Democracy, Governance and Elections (BRIDGE) workshops on election observation in Mexico City in partnership with the Electoral Institute of Mexico City. Participatory Budgeting Project to Be Implemented in Mexico City
On June 4, leaders of the Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) visited IFES' headquarters to sign an agreement that marks the next phase of their longstanding partnership. With this “Enhancing Citizen Participation in Mexico City” agreement, the IECM will welcome IFES’ expertise for research on comparative experiences in participatory budgeting, and the organizations will work together to produce civil society workshops in Mexico City on participatory budgeting and domestic election observation.

Presentation of Armenian Parliamentary Mandates
IFES, the United Nations Development Programme and the Central Election Commission of Armenia organized a parliamentary mandate presentation ceremony. Critical Assistance to Early Parliamentary Elections in Armenia
In spring 2018, Armenia witnessed a change in government following peaceful street protests. The country’s new leadership announced a state program that prioritized a revision of the electoral framework and called for snap parliamentary elections. IFES mobilized its resources to provide critical technical assistance to the Central Election Commission in preparation for both the parliamentary and Yerevan city Council of Elders elections.

Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The annual International Day of Persons with Disabilities, held on December 3, commemorates the human rights of persons with disabilities. The theme for this year’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities is “Empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equality.” In 2018, IFES partnered with disabled people’s organizations in every region of the world to develop new tools and approaches to empower people with disabilities to participate in political life.
