Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Tunisian Election Administration

Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Tunisia
To celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities in Tunisia, the IFES team joined a disability rights-focused Twitter campaign; organized a roundtable of government officials and disabled people’s and civil society organizations to discuss the barriers to political participation experienced by people with disabilities; began work on a sign language lexicon of electoral concepts; and partnered with a local radio station to broadcast three radio shows about issues faced by people with disabilities.

Presentation of Armenian Parliamentary Mandates
IFES, the United Nations Development Programme and the Central Election Commission of Armenia organized a parliamentary mandate presentation ceremony. During the event, citizens handed over the mandates to members of Parliament (MPs) to represent the symbolic transfer of power from the people to the new MPs.

Critical Assistance to Early Parliamentary Elections in Armenia
In spring 2018, Armenia witnessed a change in government following peaceful street protests. The country’s new leadership announced a state program that prioritized a revision of the electoral framework and called for snap parliamentary elections. IFES mobilized its resources to provide critical technical assistance to the Central Election Commission in preparation for both the parliamentary and Yerevan city Council of Elders elections.

Political Participation of Women and Men with Disabilities in Tunisia: An IFES Assessment
Over a two-week period around Tunisia's 2018 municipal elections, IFES conducted a disability rights assessment mission to look at the barriers and opportunities related to political participation of women and men with disabilities, focusing primarily on the preparations for and conduct of the elections. IFES’ focus group participants identified a number of recommendations for Tunisian stakeholders, and the resulting assessment is available for download in English and Arabic and in Arabic audio format.
