“Citizenship and Democracy” is a training manual published in 1997 by the Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDSA). The manual provides a guide for lesson plans that educators can use to teach about citizens' rights, the South African bill of rights, and how citizens can play a role in their own democracy.

Information Technology Mission: May - September 1996, Bosnia and Herzegovina
This report summarizes IFES’ provision of technical assistance to the Provisional Election Commission (PEC) in Bosnia Herzegovina in 1995. The IFES projects assisted with preparation for the September 14, 1996 National Elections.
This report discusses in detail the USAID-funded project which was the most technologically complex of the IFES projects - an Information Technology Mission whose work began in May 1996 as the OSCE began to realize the importance and necessity of an Information Technology capability within the Sarajevo headquarters.

Belarus Referendum Ballot 1996
Ballot used for the seven-question referendum held in Belarus on 24 November 1996. The first four questions in the referendum were proposed by President Alexander Lukashenko, and the final three were proposed by the Supreme Court. The voters voted on the following:
-Whether Independence Day should be moved to 3 July, to commemorate the liberation of Belarus
-Approval of the constitutional amendments proposed by President Lukashenko
-Approval of the free sale of land
-Abolition of the death penalty
-Approval of the constitutional amendment proposed by the Supreme Soviet
-Direct elections to local bodies
-Should all state expenses be part of the national budget.

Truth Talk
This is the November 1996 edition of South Africa’s “Truth Talk,” a publication of the country’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. The magazine focuses on reparations for civil rights violations of the past and includes a piece by Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu, the Commission’s chairperson. There is also a section on individuals’ reactions to the work of the Commission. A second topic of this magazine was the granting of amnesty to South African’s who had perpetrated human rights violations while under orders. This piece was published two years after the 1994 elections in South Africa, the first to feature universal adult suffrage.
