Burkina Faso: Partnership for Participation and Poise in Epic Polls
Burkina Faso’s political landscape changed dramatically on October 31, 2014, when President Blaise Compaoré stepped down after nearly three decades in power and fled the country. The 2015 elections offer an unprecedented opportunity for deepening citizen involvement in electoral and political processes, increasing citizens’ confidence in the integrity of voting processes and systems, and enabling young people to channel their new-found activism into peaceful political participation. The objective of the assessment was to: (1) Determine the prospects for holding general elections at such a time when the conditions that affect elections are conducive to a participatory and open process; and (2) Provide a set of baseline data from which to assess the readiness of Angola for elections and to make recommendations to the Government of the Republic of Angola, United States Government, the United Nations organizations in Luanda, and other donors, in preparation for such elections, including a timeline by which key actions need to occur.

“Elections Step by Step” is a voter guide issued in 2000 by CENTRAS and IFES, available in Romanian, and meant to serve as an informative document about the Romanian electoral system, specifically to provide information regarding the Presidential Election of 2000 in Romania. The guide is mostly intended to be of use for the electoral bodies overseeing the electoral process and to provide basic guidance on the main ways of functioning during the entire electoral process.
