Your Last Chance to Register
“Your Last Chance to Register” is a political flyer intended to remind South Africans that April 28th 1995 is the last day to register to vote in local elections. The flyer indicates how to register as well as what the positive and negative aspects of voting are. One example of a positive reason to vote is the ability to support the “RDP,” the African National Congress’ Reconstruction and Development Programme. A version in Afrikaans is also provided.

“A Democratic Experience” is the first edition of the “Horizonte Ciudadano” informative bulletin, available in Spanish, issued in 1995 by the Federal Electoral Institute in Mexico. The bulletin discusses, through illustrations, a democratic experience for children, intended to familiarize young children with the benefits that come with actively participating in a democratic setting. This first edition discusses how a group of children organize themselves to participate in a camping trip and to take part in the elections of the student council of their school.

Exploring the Universe of Democracy” is an informative illustration book for children, available in Spanish, issued in July 1995 by the Federal Electoral Institute in Mexico, and intended to teach children about the concept of democracy. The book tells a fictive story, where children from every corner in the world and having different interests are brought to a magic island and try to build a life together.

“The Best Election” is an informative comic book, available in Spanish, issued in 1995 by the Federal Electoral Institute in Mexico, intended to familiarize children with the concept of democracy and what it means to be an active citizen in a democratic society. The comic book explains and describes the ways to successfully organize themselves when lobbying for a particular matter, as well as it teaches young children the basic steps for voting.

Let's Vote Again is a publication focusing on voter registration prior to the 1995 local government elections in South Africa. Made available by the Task Group for Local Government Elections, this document emphasizes the need for citizen's to register to vote to make sure their communities have a chance to be adequately represented at the local level. Information is presented in a storyboard format and key messages are in English as well as 5 local languages.
