The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) honors the head of Mexico’s Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) with its 2013 Charles T. Manatt Democracy Award. IFE President Dr. Leonardo Valdés Zurita has set a high standard for promoting and exchanging good electoral practices around the world. Charles T. Manatt Democracy Awards recognize the exceptional work of individuals who demonstrate a commitment to freedom and democracy. IFES presents the award annually to three individuals who exhibit the dedication to democracy and human rights embodied by the award's namesake, former IFES Board of Directors Chairman Charles T. Manatt.

Women’s Political Participation in Honduras
A guiding principle of democracy is social and political inclusion. However, the full participation of women in public life is an ongoing issue in many countries, and Honduras is no exception, despite progress made in recent years. As part of the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening’s (CEPPS) 2012-2013 Honduras project, IFES and NDI completed the study Women’s Political Participation in Honduras. This publication provides recommendations to improve women’s participation in public decision making circles.
