This report discusses IFES’ role in the development of a new electoral system and new policies and procedures for governing an electoral system in Burundi. The report provides a background and framework for democracy in Burundi along with the status civil and political institutions and human rights in Burundi. The report concludes with recommendations for implementing a new electoral system in Burundi.
