Ballot paper used in the first round of voting for the President and Vice-President of Ecuador on 17 May 1992. The main candidates in the election were Sixto Duran BALLEN (United Republican Party), Jaime NEBOT (Christian Socail Party) and Abdala BUCARAM (Ecuadorian Roldosist Party).

Voter Registration System of the District of Columbia
In a paper written by District of Columbia Board of Elections and Ethics Executive Director Emmett H. Fremaux entitled “the Voter Registration System of the District of Columbia,” Fremaux outlines the basic components of the DC voter registration system. Fremaux not only covers registration by mail, “Motor Voter Registration,” and how to maintain an up-to-date voter registration, but provides statistics and graphs that show steady increases in voter registration. This 1992 paper was provided for the Institute for Social Research National Conference on May 8th and 9th of that year.

“The Bill of Rights: A Living Legacy for Fledgling Democracy” is a presentation given by Erika B. Schlager on April 11, 1992 discussing the importance of rule of law and the promotion of democratic ideals in European countries struggling with the aftermath of the fall of the Soviet Union. Schlager, a Staff Advisor for the Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe speaks optimistically on the political changes occurring at the time in Europe.

“Your History as Theatre!” is a pamphlet from April 1992, made in joint production by the National Assembly, the Director General of Elections in Quebec and the Minister of Education in Quebec, that provides plans for theatre activities to celebrate the 200 year anniversary of the Parliamentary Institutions in Quebec, coming up in 1992. The pamphlet is aimed at middle and high school students in the hope that this ‘historic theatre’ activity will raise awareness of the government system in Quebec.
