Stunts and Races for Gender Equality
On April 4-5, the IFES-supported Journalists Network for Gender Equality (JNGE) conducted a public outreach campaign titled, “We Need Women in Politics! Vote for Women!” A gender-themed arts and crafts exhibition was held in Telavi, followed by a gender-themed auto rally that gathered over 3,000 attendees, including the Governor of Kakheti and the head of Telavi’s municipality. Six women and 16 men racers participated in the event, which highlighted the importance of gender equality with an innovative twist.

IFES Civics Course Alum Serves as Precinct Election Commissioner
Prior to participating in IFES’ Democracy and Citizenship course, Nika Markozashvili possessed only basic knowledge about citizenship and the responsibilities of citizens in a democracy. The course content had a profound impact on Markozashvili’s understanding of his role in public life. “As I passed the course, [in] time I realized my role in building democratic society,” he said.

Nigerian Study Tour Brings Delegation to D.C.
IFES and the National Democratic Institute (NDI) organized a study mission for high-ranking members of Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and INEC’s Electoral Institute from January 11-17 in Washington, D.C. Over the course of the week-long visit, the delegation met with U.S. Department of State representatives, policymakers, advocates and topical experts.

Georgia PSA: Independent Person -- Free Choice
To this end, IFES supported the Coalition for Independent Living's (CIL) voter motivation and education campaign. This umbrella group of over 25 disabled persons' organizations produced a public service announcement targeting voters with disabilities, which explains the importance of participation and provides an overview of the services available for those requiring additional assistance ahead of and on Election Day.

A Milestone for Georgian Democracy: the 2013 Presidential Elections
On October 27, 2013, Georgia held presidential elections. These polls were peaceful and the results were largely accepted. This vote also resulted in the nation's second consecutive peaceful transfer of power through the ballot box, marking a historic day for all Georgians and an important step in the nation’s democratic development.
