Resonating through Radio: Voter Education in the Sierra Leone 2018 Elections
In preparation for the Sierra Leone elections on March 7, 2018, IFES launched the USAID-funded Sierra Leone Election Dialogue Series Project and worked closely with the National Electoral Commission to develop and disseminate a series of voter education radio ads.

Elections in Sierra Leone: 2018 General Elections
On March 7, Sierra Leone held general elections, with voters choosing their next president and representatives in Parliament and local councils. The elections represent the fifth straight general elections since the return to multi-party elections in 1996, and the third since the 2002 conclusion of the country’s civil war. Creating Opportunities for Syrians to Shape Their Country’s Transition
Over the last several years, IFES has empowered Syrian women, youth, and marginalized groups to be part of a meaningful discourse over their country’s future. IFES has built the capacity of these groups on key topics and challenges around a democratic transition so they can contribute to policy discussions and advocate for inclusive, democratic practices. IFES has also connected participants with decision makers and transitional leaders to increase two-way dialogue between civil society and Syrian opposition leaders.

Regional Director on “The Elections We Want” in Africa
As part of its annual report, the Wilson Center Africa Program asked IFES Regional Director for Africa Rushdi Nackerdien to contribute an essay on recent African elections. Elections in Georgia: 2017 Municipal Elections
On October 21, Georgians will go to the polls to elect their municipal government representatives. Across Georgia, citizens will elect 2,058 council members to 64 local councils (sakrebulos) of self-governing cities or communities. In addition, the mayor of Tbilisi as well as mayors of four self-governed cities and 59 mayors of self-governing communities will be elected directly.

New Report on Abuse of State Resources in Georgia
This report details findings from an IFES Abuse of State Resources Assessment conducted in Georgia following October 2016 elections. This assessment served as the pilot test of the Abuse of State Resources Research and Assessment Framework assessment methodology and draws on detailed desk research as well as a field research mission to Georgia in May 2017. Findings are focused on abuse of state resources legal provisions, oversight institutions and enforcement mechanisms.
