Partnership with Libyan Ministry of Education to Promote Civic Education in Public Schools
On August 4, 2018, IFES and the Libyan Ministry of Education (MoE) celebrated the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at underpinning future cooperation in Libya. Memorandum of Understanding Strengthens Electoral Security Collaboration in Georgia
Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) and Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) signed their third consecutive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on electoral security on September 12, 2018. The MoU outlines how the CEC and MIA will cooperate to ensure security for the October 28, 2018, presidential election and reflects an institutionalized cooperation that had not existed prior to encouragement from IFES in 2016.

IFES Delegation Meets with Prime Minister of Georgia
An IFES delegation, led by President and CEO Bill Sweeney, met with Georgian Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhktadze on September 18, in Washington, D.C. IFES Signs Global Disability Summit Charter for Change
On July 24, the United Kingdom Department for International Development, the International Disability Alliance and the Government of Kenya will host the first-ever Global Disability Summit. IFES, represented by IFES President Bill Sweeney, will participate and has signed the Charter for Change, the summit’s principal legacy document outlining actions that must be taken to ensure the rights, freedoms, dignity and inclusion for all persons with disabilities.

Mobile Radio Station Reaches Half a Million Tunisian Voters
With support from the U.S.-Middle East Partnership Initiative, in 2017 IFES built a mobile radio station ahead of Tunisia’s municipal elections on May 6, 2018, and drove it up and down the length of Tunisia, broadcasting radio programs on elections in remote and hard-to-access areas.
