Papua New Guinea Develops Strategic Plan Ahead of 2022 National Election

The Papua New Guinea Electoral Commission (PNGEC), with the support of IFES, conducted its strategic planning process from October 2017 to March 2018 with the aim of developing its 2018-2022 Corporate Plan. The plan will guide the PNGEC over the next five years through its preparation for the 2022 national election and implementation of long-term civic education, inclusion and legal reform initiatives.

Elections in Uganda: 2016 General Elections

On February 18, Ugandans will vote for President, 290 Members of Parliament who are directly elected to represent 290 constituencies, as well as 112 District Women Members of Parliament. A presidential candidate must receive 50 percent plus one vote to avoid a run-off election. Members of Parliament are elected in single-member constituencies through a simple majority system.

The May 2015 general elections mark the third elections for the House of Representatives for the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG), and the fourth elections for the President (including the by-election of 2008) since the Bougainville Peace Agreement was signed in August 2001.
