Democratizacion de la Cultura y las Practicas Politicas: Plan de Trabajo de Participacion Ciudadana 1997-2002 (plus statements, letters from 1998)
“Democratization of the Political Culture and Practices: Work Plan of the “Citizen Participation” 1997-2002” is an informational brochure, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 by the “Citizen Participation” movement in the Dominican Republic. The brochure contains the attributes of the work plan the “Citizen Participation” movement is trying to achieve during 1997-2002. The work plan reflects the goal of the civic education group to democratize the political culture while creating a conscientious and informed community. Additionally, attached to the document are statements and letters discussing the history of previous elections and the present efforts to implement electoral observation; the concern and commitment to maintain minimum female quota law in the 1998 Congressional and Municipal Elected officials.

“Citizens’ Participation” is a poster, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 by the “Equipo Maiz” group in El Salvador, in lead up to the 1997 Legislative Election in El Salvador. The poster is meant to encourage citizens’ participation in the political life of El Salvador. It contains several advices to be followed by the electors to ensure their voices are heard in building a democratic society in El Salvador. Among the messages are the following: to vote in elections, to fight for the equality of men and women, to opt for a public office and to participate in communal projects or social organizations.

“It is Our Decision to Participate and Vote” is a civic education discussion guidebook, available in Spanish, believed to be issued in the 1990s by the National Registrar of Civil State, Colombia. “Elections ‘97” is an informative booklet, available in Spanish, issued in 1997 by the “Equipo Maiz” group in El Salvador, in lead up to the 1997 Legislative and Municipal Elections. The booklet contains five chapters which focus on the following topics: politics and citizen participation, the elections, and the political parties in El Salvador. The aim of the booklet is to increase citizens’ participation in the March 1997 Legislative and Municipal Elections and to encourage them to get informed on the agenda of the political parties to run in the elections.
