The League of Women Voters are responsible for placing this informational “Voters’ Guide” in the October 25th, 2000 edition of The Journal in Virginia. “Presidential Elections in the United States: A Primer,” is a Congressional Research Service report that outlines the four stages of the American Presidential election process. This CRS report, published on April 17th, 2000, provides in depth analysis and historical references regarding the pre-nomination process, national nomination conventions, the General Election, and finally the voting by members of the Electoral College to choose the President and Vice President. This document also includes facts on the qualifications and process of becoming a Presidential candidate as well as several tables and charts further detailing the four stages of the US Presidential election procedure.
