IFES Weighs in on Caribbean Elections During Annual Meeting
From January 16-17, 2014, IFES participated in the Seventh General Meeting of the Association of Caribbean Electoral Organizations (ACEO) in Paramaribo, Suriname. The two-day meeting covered key electoral topics that affect member States. Participants shared experiences and heard from experts in hopes of improving electoral processes in their respective nations.

Public Opinion of Democracy Issues in Kosovo: Findings from an IFES August 2012 Survey
From August 17-29, 2012, IFES partner Index Kosova conducted fieldwork and data processing to determine public opinion in Kosovo. The survey covered a sample size of 1,520 Kosovars and aimed to understand the adult population’s knowledge of key components of the election process; measure awareness on current electoral reform processes; analyze attitudes toward political participation; and measure citizen’s perceptions of the Central Election Commission.

Kosovo Civic Education Campaign
In the fall of 2012, IFES collaborated with six local partners in Kosovo to launch “Participate,” a civic education campaign aimed at increasing public awareness on democratic values. This includes independent voting; the role of women, youth and minority groups in election processes; roles and responsibilities of election management bodies; and electoral complaints. The campaign reached 33,883 voters through face-to-face activities; distributed 87,482 informational brochures, pamphlets and other printed material; and reached over 600,000 Kosovars through TV and radio programs, as well as newspaper articles. Voter Education in Haiti
After a close and controversial first-round presidential vote in November, on March 20 Haiti held a runoff election for its top two presidential candidates, Mirlande Manigat and Michel Martelly. As part of its technical assistance to the CEP, and in close coordination and cooperation with other partners, IFES organized a public information campaign reminding voters to check their registration information, confirm the location of their polling station and cast their ballots on Election Day.

On March 20, Haiti held the second round of presidential and legislative elections following the close and controversial first-round presidential vote in November.
