Conociendo la Historia Civica de Mexico : 4
“Getting to Know the Civic History of Mexico 4” is an informative booklet, available in Spanish, published in 1995 by the Federal Electoral Institute, and it presents the civic historical facts and personalities throughout the months of October-December. The pamphlet is meant to amplify the knowledge of Mexican citizens regarding the most important happenings that have shaped the creation of Mexico, its identity and its historical memories that have been significant factors in the building of a democratic culture in Mexico. Some of the events mentioned are: the Creation of the Federal Electoral Institute in October, 1990, the start of the Mexican Revolution in November, 1910, and the World Day of Human Rights in December, 1948.

“Basic Electoral Glossary for the Youth” is an informative guidebook, available in Spanish, issued in 1995 by the Federal Electoral Institute in Mexico. The glossary provides basic electoral terms for youth in an effort to enhance youth’s understanding of the Mexican electoral system, including their rights and obligations as citizens. The political electoral concepts included in the glossary are defined in an easy-to-understand language that would facilitate their comprehension by all groups of young citizens.

Notice of a Poll
“Notice of Poll” is a sample ballot for the Referendum vote in Quebec on October 30th 1995. The document, made available by the Director General of Elections in Quebec, states the referendum question in English and French of whether Quebec should claim sovereignty from Canada. The names of the chairmen and official agents for the committees of Yes and No are also provided.

Election Observation Final Report
This report summarizes IFES’ mission to Mexico for the 1994 presidential, legislative and state elections. The report concludes that the elections were conducted in a peaceful and transparent fashion, however, there is room for improvement in the arena of voting efficiency. The report details suggested improvements to the Mexican voting system.
