This piece of civic education material was produced by the “New York Campaign Finance Board” 1989 in lead up to that year’s general elections. The booklet goes over voter’s rights, campaign finance and also provides council district maps. It was produced in lead up to the local elections in the city held on Tuesday November 7, 1989.

Kids Voting: Could It Make a Difference
This booklet is a summary of the “Kids Voting: Could It Make a Difference,” program. The program was aimed at making young children interested in the voting process in hopes that they would grow up to be more engaged in politics. The program also hoped to have a positive impact on the children’s parents’ voter participation. One aspect of the program was to allow parents to bring their children to the polling stations. The results indicated a 70.3% turnout in “Kids Voting” precincts, an average of 2.7% higher than precincts that did not implement the program. This program was conducted in 1988, the year of the presidential election between George H.W. Bush and Michael Dukakis held on November 8th.

This booklet was produced in 1989 by the Office of the Secretary of State of Iowa to educate “new comers” to the city of Des Moines. The piece includes sections on the city’s higher education, recreational opportunities as well as maps of the city and information on voting registration of new residents. Voter registration cards and details about what documents are necessary for a successful registration process the registration process are included in the pamphlet as well.
