Voter Information Guide for 1990 Elections
“Voter Information Guide for 1990 Elections” is a voter handbook prepared in 1990 by Sherrod Brown, the Secretary of State of Ohio, in lead up to the May 8, 1990 Primary Election and the November 6, 1990 General Election. The guide is meant to provide voters with information about registering and voting, absentee voting including the armed services absentee voting, to inform them about their rights as voters and the procedures that lead to a correct exercise of voting. It also provides short descriptions of each one of the offices for which Ohio voters will express their votes.

“Voter Rights and Registration Resource Guide” is document produced in 1990 by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and designed to stimulate the voter turnout of eligible voters in Texas. The document is intended to help educate Texans about the importance of voting as well as the correct ways to exercise this right. Included in the document are important historical dates and brief descriptions of the events in the development of National Voter Rights under the U.S Constitution and a number of case studies on voting rights and the decisions involved. Additionally, after a brief description of the state voter registration, the document provides important information on Texas’s voter registration, voter qualifications, and the women’s suffrage movement.

The vote -- a basic American Freedom
“The Vote a Basic American Freedom,” was produced in St. Louis County, Missouri by the city’s Board of Election Commissioners in lead up to the 1990 general elections. The piece contains information on voter identification, election-day procedure, absentee voting, electronic voting and where one may register to vote. The pamphlet was released prior to the first congressional elections of the presidency of George H.W. Bush.

Thousands Fought for your Right to Vote
In this letter to residents of Louisiana issued by the state, the headline “Thousands Fought For Your Right to Vote” is used to compel residents to provide correct mailing addresses to the state in order to maintain individual voter registration. A form is provided to submit corrected addressed and a November 15th, 1990 deadline is given.

Celebrate your Freedom
“Celebrate Your Freedom” published by Wyoming Secretary of State Kathy Karpan, serves both as a 1990 Wyoming General Election guide and an emotional appeal to residents to register and participate in voting. Karpan invokes current struggles for democracy across the world to persuade Wyoming citizens to take advantage of the American democratic liberty of voting. This pamphlet also includes information on four proposed amendment, basic registration information, and offices up for election on November 6th, 1990.

“Casting Your Vote in North Carolina” is a voter guidebook published in 1990 by the Institute of Government of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This booklet explains the qualifications for voting, the registering and voting procedures, and the duties of the different elections officials, and it also describes the kinds and timing of elections in North Carolina. Additionally, it provides a brief summary of the determination of election results, a brief description of the Federal Voting Rights Act and the Elections Timetable starting May 1990 until November 1994.

This piece was released in lead up to the primary elections on September 4 and October 2 and the general elections on November 6, 1990.

Those elections would feature local and congressional offices on the ballot.
