IFES' 2013 Photography Contest Winners and Finalists
IFES hosts an annual Photo Contest to showcase photos of elections and democracy from around the world. This gallery features a small sampling of the winners and finalists from this year's contest.
The 2013 contest featured four categories to reflect IFES' four themes: Election Management, Electoral Integrity and Transparency, Citizen Participation, and Inclusion and Empowerment.
A distinguished panel of judges looked at numerous pictures to select the winners. The judges were: Susan Biddle, former Washington Post and White House photographer; Laura Pohl, a documentary filmmaker and photographer; and Dmitry Shevkun, avid photographer as well as IFES Chief of Party in Kyrgyzstan.

IFES marked its’ annual Charles T. Manatt Democracy Awards with a gala dinner ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington, D.C., on September 24. This award underscores IFES’ belief that advancing good governance and democratic rights begins with empowerment of and active participation from citizens.
Each year, three honorees who are united by this belief gather with IFES friends and colleagues to celebrate democracy. This annual event brings together a diverse group of leaders, including ambassadors, government officials and business executives.
