Otito Greg-Obi Elected to Executive Committee of U.S Civil Society Working Group on Women, Peace and Security
On May 20, IFES Gender Program Coordinator Otito Greg-Obi was elected to the 2019-20 Executive Committee of the United States Civil Society Working Group (CSWG) on Women, Peace and Security (WPS). The CSWG is a nonpartisan, collaborative network of civil society organizations that provides technical assistance to governmental agencies seeking to integrate the WPS agenda into national security efforts.

Preliminary Electoral Results Transmission Document Presented to El Salvador’s Supreme Electoral Tribunal
On May 31, IFES delivered its final document on the 2019 transmission of preliminary electoral results (TREP) to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of El Salvador. The document describes and analyzes all operational and logistical procedures that took place as part of the TREP for El Salvador’s presidential election on February 3, 2019.

On April 4-5, IFES co-sponsored the Ninth Forum on Latin American Democracy, hosted by Mexico’s National Electoral Institute in Mexico City. Placing Tunisian Men at the Center of Promoting Gender Equality
A survey conducted the Tunisian Mediterranean Center found that 16 percent of Tunisian women who participated in a mobilization campaign responded that men in their families did not allow them to vote in the May 2018 municipal elections. To begin to break down this barrier, IFES piloted the first-ever “Male Allies for Leadership Equality” training in Tunisia.

Mobilizing Rural Women for Tunisia's Municipal Elections
IFES partnered with the Tunisian Mediterranean Center to train and deploy women ambassadors in Tunisians governorates with the highest illiteracy rates to encourage women to register and vote in the May 6, 2018, municipal elections and provided them with information on registration and voting procedures.
