Kosovo Civic Education Campaign
In the fall of 2012, IFES collaborated with six local partners in Kosovo to launch “Participate,” a civic education campaign aimed at increasing public awareness on democratic values. This includes independent voting; the role of women, youth and minority groups in election processes; roles and responsibilities of election management bodies; and electoral complaints. The campaign reached 33,883 voters through face-to-face activities; distributed 87,482 informational brochures, pamphlets and other printed material; and reached over 600,000 Kosovars through TV and radio programs, as well as newspaper articles. It is critical to the security and economic development of Niger that citizens' voices are heard. Empowering Women in Myanmar During the Transition Process
The peace process now unfolding in Myanmar after decades of ethnic insurgency has opened the space for civil society advocates to join the national discourse. As a result, IFES’ program in the country, implemented under USAID’s Global Women’s Leadership Fund, aims to build the capacity of women’s groups and women who are grassroots leaders to help them feel confident and empowered to partake in the transitional processes and advocate for their specific priorities. The images in this gallery show a three-day training and one-day policy dialogue implemented by IFES and the Yangon School of Political Science (YSPS) in December 2012.
